![]() Mountain Walking in Spain (Marina Alta mountains) |
For Walkers, the rugged mountains of the Costa Blanca offer wonderful walking in a landscape of pinnacled ridges, enormous crags and shady pines - some of the best and most rewarding walking in Spain. The mountains on three sides of La Asmoladora were inhabited by the Moors during their 800 year rule of Spain which ended in 1600. Dating from that period the mountains are criss-crossed by the ancient trails used by the Moors. Long overgrown and unused, these trails have been rediscovered, opened up and restored over recent years. Most are now well “waymarked” and there are excellent walking guides to them available, such as the two volume guide to Costa Blanca mountain walks authored by Bob Stansfield. Each year, many walkers stay at La Asmoladora to walk the paths and trails of the Marina Alta mountains. |

Then, with a few beers or glasses of wine from the excellent local winery
and, perhaps, a handful of the finca's almonds, follow the sun setting
slowly behind the mountains beyond Parcent and watch as it creates a dramatic,
jagged silhouetted backdrop to the pueblo and its pretty floodlit church
tower. After that, if preparing food seems a little too much like hard work, even using the finca's large covered barbeque, there are around ten excellent and modestly priced restaurants within a mile of the finca as well as a wide variety of bars. And if, sadly, you have work to do, you can connect your computer to the internet free of charge using the finca's broadband WiFi system. |
The house icon marks the location of the property*** Situated
at the spectacular mountain end of the pretty Jalon valley - 25 minutes
from the coast. Close to the pueblo of Parcent famously described as
'paradise between |
